Karmically-speaking, I expect most of you will believe I shall be struck down by lightning before I finish this post.  I don’t “do” karma… I’m a realist.

Karma – noun – is defined by the folks at Merriam-Webster as,

‘: the force created by a person’s actions that is believed in Hinduism and Buddhism to determine what the person’s next life will be like

: the force created by a person’s actions that some people believe causes good or bad things to happen to that person.’  (www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/karma, 2015)

karma bitch

So, basically, this means that every time something negative happens in my life, it is a direct response to something that I have done – of comparable negativity, at the very least.

Hmmm… okay.

Well, if this is the case, then I could spend the rest of my days worrying about all that I have done that may be considered negative to, well, anyone. Oh my! I think I foresee an ulcer somewhere in my future.

Now, let’s throw in the belief of the Three-Fold Law, which is basic to any Wiccan belief system. This “law” – often called The Rule of Three, essentially states that what you put out into the world is returned to you, magnified by three. It’s karma…for pagans, period. This goes hand in hand with the Wiccan Rede. The Rede is stated in a variety of forms, but the gist is ‘an it harm none, do what ye will.’ So, in non-pagan, muggles, what-have-you’s terms – if it won’t in any way, shape, or form harm anyone or anything else, then by all means, put it out there.

327

But see, therein lies the rub – for me, anyway.

I am what you would call pagan – I follow a polytheistic belief, based on ancient matriarchal and Earth based views, and I have been spiritually “religious” all of my life – which is over 4 decades at the time of this writing. And throughout this life, I have tried to be “good” – at least in my eyes.

Now, this is where my confusion comes in. If, as Pagans, (and yes, many have told me they don’t like organized religion) we don’t “do” organized religion and we don’t like being told what to think and who to follow and where to worship – then why must someone else deem what is “good”… or what is bad. Or maybe it should be stated, positive and negative. Until someone has walked a mile, in my shoes, they better not be trying to tell me that what I do is good or bad…or anything, for that matter.

Now, before jumping all over me – I do understand about the notion of changing free will. I have been told that true Witch’s will not put anything out there that changes someone’s free will. Now wait a minute . . . isn’t casting a spell to bring you true love – isn’t that changing someone’s free will, somewhere? Isn’t wishing and hoping for a change in someone’s nature, or an outcome – isn’t that a change – brought about by other than the normal flow? In essence, yes. We could argue back and forth about it all day – but the truth of the matter is … both sides would be correct. At the end of the day – it’s about what YOU… yourself… and no one else, believes. Am I right?

Well, if that’s the case – then what I see as good and positive, someone else in the world could easily view as negative. And vice versa. What is dark to some, is simply the way it is to others. Who are we to judge the thoughts, intentions, or actions of others? Shouldn’t we govern ourselves, first and foremost? People in glass houses…

It’s the same thing as trying to justify why you did something that others question. It’s your personal opinion on the matter. To some ancient, or otherwise, cultures – harming others is way of life. Sacrifice, destruction, degradation, plunder and pillage … its Mother Nature at her finest!

gty_joplin_tornado_thg_111208_wblog

She creates, she condemns, and she destroys – is she wrong?

No.

Okay, so you follow an Earth-based religion. Our glorious animal kingdom is about as Earth-based as it gets. They create, they judge, they condemn and they destroy. This is all instinctual, it’s their nature.

Great-white-shark

Are they wrong? Certainly not!

So, with all that being said. Who the hell are we to decide what is right and what is wrong?

I suppose one could split hairs and say well, it’s only really wrong if you are harming another, intentionally. Again, following the Rule and the Rede – whether it be intentional or unintentional – this is a no-no.

What about if someone harms someone you love and cherish – do you draw a line there?

Say, if your 14 year old daughter is raped and the perpetrator was never caught, or was caught, but then released due to lack of evidence. What do you do then?

You can’t honestly tell me – with a clean conscience anyway – that not a single ill thought would run through your mind.

Really?

Okay, let’s lie to ourselves some more. We, as humans, even in the reflection of the divine, are simply not built that way. We are vengeful – we are angry – we do feel emotions, to extremes sometimes… just like those we emulate. Gods and Goddesses, in every pantheon, are often swift with justice. And remember folks, there are ALWAYS two sides to EVERY story!

Ancient sacrifices were made in honor of them, in the hopes to bring prosperity, bountiful harvests, blessings and immeasurable other ways.

In my first, ever, blog – entitled ‘A Witch’s Voice’, I wrote about following my own personal path. I refer to myself as eclectic – but many philosophies use the word eclectic to describe views or heritage. I use the term eclectic to describe ME. My philosophies are not the only thing that are pulled from different sources and elements – but my entire makeup is of such. I am from a long line of cattle ranchers and rodeo cowboys, and yet while I love this lifestyle and my upbringing, I ride an iron horse. I was raised on country music and deep moral values, and yet I am covered with tattoos and love the darker things in life. I am an anomaly – in many, many ways – but in the words of Popeye the Sailor – “I yam what I yam and that’s all what I yam.”

Hecate-Enthroned

What I do is often viewed as “dark” – simply because it’s not the right-handed path that many follow. I prefer the darkness – so, sure, I will identify as “dark” –

Does that make it wrong? No.

My ancestors and Deities were there long before I came along – and the darker things in life must be dealt with. They cannot be swept under the proverbial rug and forgotten about until a later date. Some of the darker natures deal with things like rage, jealousy, curses, even death. These are natural reactions – instinctual, if you will – and so, they are very valid. We cannot simply pretend that they do not exist.

Please understand, I am not poking fun at those that follow such Rules, Redes, and Laws – I am simply stating that there are other ways of thinking and living. That this is not the ONLY way and therefore, those of us that do not follow such, should not be judged by those that do. And, I have known many a Witch and Pagan that adamantly follow such rules and laws, but cannot explain to me why or show any proof of it actually happening.

So, I want those of you that wish to invalidate my claim to contact me.

Either post a response here.

Email me at inexplicablethings@yahoo.

Convo me on my website www.inexplicablethings.com

Hell, send me a smoke signal or carrier pigeon if you need to – but tell me your direct experience that will invalidate my way of thinking.

Seriously – this is somewhat of a research project for me – I have yet to actually meet a single individual that can directly correlate a cause and effect based upon the Karmic Law – or the Wiccan Rede, for that matter. If this is you – please, please, tell me your experience. I will include any portion of said experience in a future posting, with your approval, of course, and it will make for future discussions.

Please – prove me wrong! Tell your friends! Tell your coven mates – give me your experiences!

I look forward to the feedback!

Greetings Minions!

I was finally able to get the ‘Blood Moon’ candles all packaged, charged and blessed –

These smell absolutely amazing! The fragrance chosen is one that will inspire transformation – as well as getting in touch with the current things in your life that may be requiring change. Altar work for these candles followed a similar path.

These are available in a 6 cavity clamshell melting tart – ‘scentsy’ type.

2 oz aluminum travel tin – with lid

4 oz aluminum travel tin – with lid

The travel tins are perfect for using at home, or taking with you when you travel. They are handy to use in a hotel room, or in a guest room – to spruce up the air. Or, if you prefer to work your magick outside – they are great for that type of travel, as well.  I have had clients purchase travel tins of spell candles for workings in a parking lot, neighbors’ driveway, outside the home of their intended target…LOL  The possibilities are endless!

These items can be found in my Esty shop at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/InexplicableThings

Or on my website – Inexplicable Things at: http://www.inexplicablethings.com

I am proud to offer these babies with FREE (that’s right folks, FREE) Domestic Shipping!

Blood Moon Blood Moon Soy Candles Blood Moon Tarts

In addition to the ‘Blood Moon’ candles – I also have two remaining bottles of ‘Blood Moon Ghost Water’ – this water was transformed into a powerful spell or séance component when I left it over night during the Full Blood Moon in a nearby cemetery here in the bayou. Need to contact spirits or someone that has passed during the month of October – use this water to give your magick a little extra ‘oomph’ to get the job done!

The bottles are super cute and goth-y – I haven’t decorated them completely yet – for more customization. Tell me your colors and I will make it happen!

This holy grail of séance magick can be found both in my Etsy shop, as well InexplicableThings.com

More fantastical items being conjured daily, my lovelies! One more day and the greatest month of the year is upon us!!!

{insert evil cackle here}

December 24th – Celtic Birch Moon

Today begins the Celtic New Year – the month of the Birch Moon – which just happens to be the perfect time for new beginnings and making plans for the future. As we draw closer and closer to the end of our regularly observed calendar year, we are ever closer to the beginning of the next.

The Birch Moon begins just after Yule and runs through most of January. Yule is the marked as the shortest day of the year – so the Birch Moon was rejoiced as this begins the period when the daylight hours begin to increase over the hours of darkness. The Birch tree itself is usually the first tree to grow back after a forest has been cut – this only reinforces it’s association with new beginnings. This tree is one of extreme hardiness and will easily thrive in places where Oaks and others cannot. This is the perfect tree for ‘sticking to your guns’ with your New Years Resolutions.

It falls into a “quiet time” which is considered the bleakest time of the year – a great time for reflection and introspection. I generally like to spend a great deal of time in contemplation over the things that occurred in my life during the past year, as well as looking ahead to the future and starting to make plans for the year ahead – hence the term of New Year’s Resolutions.

The following is spell that I have worked for myself, as well as for a few clients. I have also successfully set lights for clients during this time of year for them to realize their resolutions.

1337933560_Candle

Resolution Blessing Spell

Go for a walk outside – collect a birch branch or twig, if you can locate one. They often grow in very urban areas such as parks, nature trails, etc.

When you return home, take a few drops of rose, frankincense or benzoin oil and rub them into the palm of your hand. Annoint a red candle with the oil.

Light the candle and stand in front of it for a few moments – thinking about your resolutions. If you are planning to learn something, see yourself having already learned the task and performing it well – no matter what it is. State your intent – ‘I will write a novel’ or ‘I will learn to sky jump’ whatever it is.

Hold the birch twig at one end and pass it through the candle flames. Turn it around and draw a circle around you in the air – this bind you to the spell.

Repeat your incantation about learning the new task.

Sit down, relax, and visualize yourself performing the task perfectly, time and time again.  When you are finished, extinguish the candle.

Prosperity 101

Blog, Candles, Cast, Coin, Color, Conjure, Coven, Craft, Dark, Divination, DIY, Herbs, Hoodoo, Luck, Money, New Year, Pagan, Prosperity, Rootwork, Silver, Spells, Wish

This time of year, I think we could all use a little extra financial boost.

This is just a little collection of prosperity boosting spells and root work that I have complied. The list includes only those spells that I have performed for clients, for myself, or that I have first-hand knowledge of someone using.

If anyone would like for me to perform a setting of lights or any candle work for them, please feel free to contact me directly. I will provide you with photos of before, during and after – as well as a detailed description of what I saw during the working, and finally, you will receive a packet/mojo of left over candle wax, herbs, and curios with complete instructions on what course of action to take next.

Setting candles

On a piece of paper, write down the money troubles you are having. Then chant to yourself for these problems to be resolved and to eventually disappear completely, from your life. Burn the paper.

Carry fresh mint leaves in your wallet or checkbook. The leaves will be more powerful if you can wrap them around a silver dollar coin.

Money Oil recipe

3 parts ginger

2 parts orange

4 parts pine

2 parts cinnamon

½ part chamomile

1 part cedar

Shake well. Decant into a small bottle. Blend in a wheat germ base and orange blossoms and pine needles. Allow to stand for 3 days.

Wealth Spell – using Coltsfoot

For wealth and prosperity for the coming New Year, take a husk from an ear of corn and put a dollar bill inside. Also place a hand written note on a piece of brown paper sack. On the paper, write something like:

Gods of luck

Money is like muck

Not good except to be spread.

Spread some of it (write your address)

Thanks be to the thee.

Sign your name.

Sprinkle the dollar bill and note with Coltsfoot leaves. Roll the husk up and tie together with green string or ribbon. Hang the token above the entryway of your home with a green cord or string. This husk should bring riches into your home or business!

To find money, one should make a conjure bag containing a small horseshoe and lodestone to attract and draw wealth to you. Add Smartweed to the bag – this will enable you to see how to capture the money you seek and hold onto it without being led astray by unprofitable distractions or foolish delays. Feed your conjure bag with a sprinkle of magnetic sand every third day until you find the amount of money you need. Do not be greedy!

Sprinkle cinnamon on your money before you spend it.

Always hand dollar bills out folded in half.

Before shopping, envision that whatever you spend comes back to your several times over.

Every day, drop a penny in a jar and say

“My life is filled with abundance. And all my needs are met.”

Place mint in with your money to make it grow.

Keep an organic, unshelled almond in your purse or wallet – wrapped in a small piece of green cloth. You will always have enough money.

Knot Spell for money

While tying 9 knots in a green, 13” silk cord or ribbon, say

By knot of one, my spell’s begun

By knot of two, plenty fruitful work to do

By knot of three, money comes to me

By knot of four, opportunity knocks at my door

By knot of five, my business thrives

By knot of six, this spell is fixed

By knot of seven, success is given

By knot of eight, increase is great

By knot of nine, these things are mine

Keep the knotted cord in a safe place until things turn around for you financially. Then dispose of it, by burial – DO NOT untie the knots.

I have a large variety of spells and root work to pull from. Some passed down for generations. My services have been requested by many – with great success. Again, if you would like for Inexplicable Things to set lights for you, or perform any candle work, simply contact me. I will have a few questions to ask before we begin.

Good luck in your quests – and may prosperity find you in the coming New Year!

Graveyard Dust and Cemetery Dirt . . .

Cross II

Often times when you hear the words graveyard dust or cemetery dirt, it conjures up images of people sneaking into a cemetery in the dark of night and doing dastardly deeds in order to sell their soul to the devil for untold power, talent or riches. For people like myself, these words mean something much, much different.

Graveyard Dust and/or Cemetery dirt has been used for decades. When working with spirits, both benevolent and malevolent spirits call for the use of graveyard dirt. Depending upon the tradition followed, the dirt can be used for a number of different things. Some examples are: Divination, Protection, Hexing / Cursing, Necromancy, Ancestor Remembrance, Forcing someone to leave you alone, Enemy-Be-Gone, Love, and even Coercive matters. You can simply add it to your altar and let your imagination run wild!

Unfortunately, many people do not realize that not all graveyard dirt is equal. The dirt can be collected from different locations within the cemetery, as well as the inhabited graves that it is chosen from. It will make a difference in your spell work.

whose there

First, I will provide a list of the types of graves that I have successfully collected from and employed in my craft.

Abused Spirit – the dirt collected here, from over the heart, can be used to endure traumatic events or situations; it can help in removing yourself or a client from a seriously dangerous or negative relationship. The dirt collected from an abused spirit – emotionally or physically abused, is very powerful. It brings perseverance, at all costs.

Adult – The dirt collected from a mature adult’s grave is a sort of all-purpose dirt. It can help with wisdom, maturity, day to day events. Collect this dirt from near the head.

Baby/Infants – This dirt is used mostly for fertility conjure – for someone to become pregnant, or to lose a baby, depending upon how you use it. It also symbolizes innocence, peace. Using dirt collected from a baby’s grave can create peace within a home or relationship. Collect this dirt from the center of the grave.

Cheating lover/spouse – Perfect for issues with love triangles; choosing between two (or more) lovers. You can also use this dirt to cause a spouse or lover to cheat. Collect this dirt from over the heart.

Doctor/Midwife – Obviously, this dirt is perfect for healing matters, as well as treating illnesses. On the flip side, it is also employed to cause illness. Collect this dirt from the right or left hand, depending upon what you will be using if for.

Executed/Executioner – Collect this dirt for jinxing and hexing, revenge work, anything where inflicting harm is the desired outcome. Grab this dirt from near the head of the grave.

Gambler – This dirt is used in mojo hands, castings, anything that can help better the odds and increase luck. This is used for both gamblers and new business owners, equally. This dirt should be taken from near the right hand.

Judge or Lawyer – Court cases, road opener spells, honey jar spells – anything where you or a client might need a boost of justice. It can also be collected from a “dirty” lawyer or a judge that was known to accept bribes. If this is the case, use this dirt for anti-justice. Again, collect from the right hand. Also, similar to this type, law enforcement officers. They will see swift justice for those seeking it. The right hand will keep the matter close at hand. Officers can also keep a watchful eye over someone that needs to be honest or trustworthy.

Law enforcement officer – see above

Murderer – By collecting this type of dirt from the left hand, you can influence with the powers of revenge. Perfect for harmful or dangerous workings. Please keep in mind that working with this type of influence can become quite harmful – to both the practitioner, as well as those it is for.

Priest or Clergyman – Collect this dirt from the head of the grave, very near the stone or even underneath it. This dirt is often used for protection, as well as spiritual guidance and understanding. Enlightenment, high powers, divination purposes will benefit from this dirt. Another use is for letting go of painful things.

Pet – If you have the ability to collect dirt from a beloved pet, this can be useful in protection, love and understanding. Many feel that this type of dirt is also good for loyalty matters. Collect this dirt from anywhere on the grave.

Soldier – This dirt is used for courage and bravery, steadfastness, loyalty. Problem-solving, thinking outside the box, self-preservation, secrecy, covert operations. This dirt can also be used to control someone else, to cause them to obey orders. Collect this dirt from the right hand, above the heart, or near the head – whichever makes the most sense to you. I always like to mention, please do not use this dirt without paying the proper respect to the soldier’s grave that it is collected from.

Suicide – Many necromancers choose the dirt from suicide victims. It’s often used in jinxing, hexing, driving away something. It can be used to cast torment, anguish and extreme sorrow. Collect from the feet.

Young Adult – Dirt collected from anywhere on a young adult’s grave can be used for a variety of things. Romance, new relationships, sexual attraction, but also irresponsible behaviors, lack of accountability, excessive behaviors (drinking, drugs, etc).

Cross

Now… how do I pay for the dirt? The dirt’s I use are hand-collected, using a very traditional method where the spirits are offered a prayer, energy, coin or drink, as a way of saying thanks. Sometimes, the spirit is excessive and wants all forms of payment, other times, a little download of energy while kneeling next to their grave is plenty. They will let you know.

As a necromancer, I do not follow a moon phase to collect my dirt, unless it is specifically requested by a client. I have learned the proper ways and techniques of collecting the dirt when I need it, therefore, I do not have to wait until the proper moon phase rolls around. I have a very unique bond with spirits – but that is a story for another time.

Ranger II

Another factor to consider is location. When a particular spirit is not needed, but a location is, the following is a quick run-down of the best places to gather Cemetery dirt.

Cemetery Entrance – the dirt collected from the entrance or near the entrance of a cemetery is perfect to use when requiring strong and powerful protection. It provides a strong guardianship. And when sprinkled around the home or business, it will help keep unwelcome spirits away.

3-Way Crossroads – The crossroads are a powerful place, indeed. Dirt collected from a 3-way crossroads is often used for devotional purposes and divination. I have used it to help open roads and blocked pathways, as well.

4-Way Crossroads – If your needs require a bit of darker shadows or more obscure deities, gather your dirt from a 4-way crossroads. The spirits that dwell within this area are much more powerful and much darker. I use this dirt for the more malicious workings of revenge, and danger – or to cause complete confusion. This soil is for serious life changes, as well as powerful healing. It’s good dirt to use when trying to overcome something very difficult in your life.

More to come on my practice of necromancy and how I use graveyard dirt.

A Witch’s Voice…

Blog, Cajun, Cast, Conjure, Craft, Dark, Magick, Pagan, Voice, Witch

I have been on my own personal path all my life. I wouldn’t necessarily say I follow a particular path or have a particular philosophy because I am so very eclectic and try to learn all I can about all traditions, faiths, and walks of life. I learn – and then I use that knowledge in a way that benefits me the most. This depends greatly upon my intentions and desired outcomes. Therefore, I do not believe that an individual must be confined to a particular philosophy or belief. If a Greek Goddess is perfect for a particular issue today, who says that I can’t call upon an Irish Goddess next week? Or Egyptian, or Norse, or Dianic, or even a Voodoo Lwa. It seems that many, not all, but many, Neo-Pagan philosophies try to cram everyone into a certain path or category. I have been told by individuals that I simply MUST choose a path… that I can’t worship a particular deity because I am was not raised in that tradition. I do not take kindly to being crammed into a particular mold.

Witch-casting-spell

As for the spells I cast, you will learn that I am truly a bit of a chaotic Witch. I am very non-traditional in the respect that I do not cast a circle, I do not call quarters, I do not take a ritual baths – I really do not do anything traditional, at all. I do invite any and all deities or spirits that wish to attend – and I ask that if they have something to say or point out during my castings, they please do so.  I do welcome the elements, and generally have a symbolic reflection of them on my altar. I do have a few favorite deities that I use much more than others – Hecate, Marie Laveau, etc. and so they, too, have representations on or near my altar, but that is about all.  I speak what I want, what I am trying to accomplish. I tend to explain the circumstances, and then specifically state my problem or the outcome I am seeking.  I speak with Deities and spirits as if we were having a conversation over tea.  At the end of the casting, I usually ask that any or all that feel they could be beneficial, please make it known, and I shall do my best to be open to interpretation and listening for their nudge.  I do not ask without understanding that my own effort is required.  I thank them all for attendance and bid them farewell.  A little grounding to get rid of any lingering energy and done!

Some witches are born with an ability to work candle magick. It just comes natural to them. Others are creative writers and their spells are amazing. Some are quite adept with herbs, resins and minerals. Some rely solely on divination for what they are seeking. And still, some, are quite powerful in a variety of ways. I, myself, didn’t realize what type of witch I was until I was in my mid to late 30’s. I am good with candles, herbs, animals and what have you, but my real power is in my voice. This means that I must be fairly emotionally connected to what I am casting, and I must verbally speak what I want. My magick rarely, if ever, fails me. But once I understood what type of Witch I truly was, I changed a few things about how I went about spells and voila! Things got so much more real! My spells were more powerful and the outcomes were realized much quicker.
